Elsa Olsson was my mother's mother. I think this picture was taken about 1903 when she was about sixteen. During my childhood, Grandma Westin lived in St. Paul, Minnesota. We visited her occasionally, usually together with visits to my mother's brother Carl and some of their cousins. Grandma Westin immigrated from Sweden, along with her siblings Hildur, Anna and Carl, in the 1910s. Listening to their Swedish accents when I was young gave me a feeling of connection to the old country.
